Every Summer Q runs 'Intro to Comics' at The Animation Workshop and leads a group of new artists through the week as they make their first comics and get familiar with the basics of the craft.
Meanwhile, Nico runs 'Intro to Animation' where you can make your first ever animations, learn new things about the medium, and come away with the skills and software knowledge to start creating your own projects.
And with 'Roll your adventure' you can become a more confident creative storyteller and character designer whether it's for fun roleplay games at home or your own published series someday.
Intro to Comics
An introduction to the varied medium of comics and graphic novels. Can be anything from a 2 hour appetizer to a full week of in-depth lectures and assignments.
We go through the basic principles of graphic storytelling, with assignments designed to practice those principles. These assignments range from “sketch out this page in 3 different ways” to “draw your day” all the way to “create 3 pages of fully finished comics, using everything you have learned.

Intro to Animation
Roll Your Adventure
What’s more creative than letting fate decide?
In this popular little workshop, we create fantasy characters based on a series of prompts and a roll of the dice. Includes a demonstration by the teacher(s), where we also talk about how to include storytelling into the design.
Time: 1 hour
Age group: 8+
An introduction to 2D-animation, going through the 12 basic principles and showing a wide variety of animated clips as inspiration.
The full week includes a morph- or loop exercise, as well as an open assignment, with in-depth personal feedback from the teacher.
Age group: 15+
